Favorite Japan beat South Africa 13-0 at U-23 Baseball World Cup

    Barranquilla, Colombia, Oct 19 (efe-epa).- Japan's team on Friday knocked out their South African counterpart with a 13-0 victory, on the first day of the Under 23 Baseball World Cup in Barranquilla and Monteria.

    The Japanese, current champions in the age category, came as favorites to win the title and did not give any chance to the African team composed mainly of amateur baseball players.

    With a blunt offensive connecting four home runs, ten singles and a double, the Asians included Kairi Ahumada, Yasuhito Ushida, Ryosuke Kishisato, Ukyo Shuto and Kengo Huriuchi, who scored three of the thirteen runs.

    The winning pitcher was Soichiro Yamazaki and the loser was Damon Kong.
