Mexico City, Oct 15 (efe-epa).- Tropical Storm Tara has formed off the coast of the western Mexican states of Colima and Michoacan, the country's National Weather Service (SMN) said Monday.

At 12:00 pm, the storm was 120km (74.6mi) southwest of Punta San Telmo, Michoacan, the SMN said.

Tara is now moving at 4km/hr (2.5mph) west-northwest with maximum sustained winds of 65km/hr (40.4mph) and gusts of up to 85km/hr (52.8mph).

"Its circulation favors the abundant access of humidity in the western, southern and central states of the country," according to the bulletin.

The SMN forecast included intense storms in the states of Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, Tamaulipas and Chiapas, as well as very strong storms in San Luis Potosi, Queretaro, Guanajuato, Jalisco, Colima, Michoacan, Oaxaca, Puebla and Veracruz.

The service recommended extreme caution due to heavy rains, strong winds, as well as waves two to three meters (6.5-10ft) high for the coasts of Michoacan, Jalisco, Colima and Guerrero.
