Ex-White House aide says there is recording of Trump using N-word

    10 de agosto de 2018

Washington, Aug 10 (efe-epa).- Omarosa Manigault Newman, the most senior African-American in the White House until her dismissal late last year, claims in a forthcoming memoir that President Donald Trump can be heard using the N-word on audio recordings from his 2004-2015 tenure as host of NBC television's "The Apprentice," Britain's Guardian newspaper reported Friday.

The Guardian said that it secured a copy of the memoir, "Unhinged," which is set to be published next week by Simon & Schuster.

In the book, Manigault Newman, herself a former "Appentice" contestant, says that she knows from three different sources that recordings exist of Trump using the N-word multiple times in outtakes from the show, though she acknowledges that she never heard the future president utter the racial slur.

The Guardian story follows a report by the Daily Beast claiming Manigault Newman secretly tapped several conversations with the president, both in person and by phone, during her time in the White House.

A spokesperson for Simon & Schuster, the publisher of Manigault Newman's book, would not confirm the existence of the recordings.

However, as reported in the Daily Beast, the publishing company is "confident" that the author "can substantiate" her account of events in the White House.

After participating in "The Apprentice" in 2004, Manigault Newman became a close confidante to the real estate mogul, who included her in his administration after being sworn in January 2017.

Manigault Newman was appointed Director of Communications for the White House's Office of Public Liaison, until she resigned last December.

Since then, she has become a thorn in Trump's side due to multiple statements in which she has suggested that her book could reveal the president's racist character.
