Barranquilla, Colombia, Jul 23 (efe-epa).- Barranquilla's Atletico Junior and Argentina's Club Atletico Lanus are preparing to clash this week in the second leg of the Copa Sudamericana's second phase.

Junior and Lanus will meet on Tuesday at Roberto Melendez Metropolitan Stadium in Barranquilla, with the Colombian club hoping to advance in the international tournament.

In 2017, Junior made it all the way to the Copa Sudamericana semifinals.

Junior played to a 0-0 tie against Atletico Bucaramanga on Saturday in the first round of Colombian league action.

Uruguayan coach Julio Comesaña's team hopes to end its streak of five consecutive matches without a win, a performance that knocked it out of contention for a Copa Libertadores spot.

Junior lost forwards Yimmi Chara and Jonatan Alvez, who signed with Brazil's Atletico Mineiro and Internacional, respectively.

The Colombian club signed midfielder Ivan Rivas, who scored nine goals for the Patriotas, to add some firepower to its offense.

Junior's 11-man starting lineup also boasts Teofilo Gutierrez, who spent some time with Lanus, and striker Luis Carlos Ruiz.

Lanus, which arrived in Barranquilla on Saturday, will have pretty much the same starters on the field against Junior as in the first leg of the series.

Midfielder Ivan Marcone, who signed with Mexican league club Cruz Azul, is gone and midfielder Facundo Quignon, who previously played for San Lorenzo, will not be on the field.
