Mexico City, Jul 12 (efe-epa).- Striker Charlyn Corral, last season's top scorer from Levante UD soccer club, will lead the Mexico women's national soccer team to defend the title in the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla, Colombia.

The Mexican Football Federation confirmed on Thursday the list of players selected for the Mexico women's national soccer team by coach Roberto Medina, which comprises various star players, including Atletico Madrid's defender Kenti Robles from Spanish league La Liga, as well as five other prominent players from the US soccer league.

Mexico expects to win more than 100 gold medals in this regional sports tournament, held from Jul. 19 to Aug. 3, and aims to seal two golds from the men's and women's soccer competition.

In the group stage of the women's soccer competition, Mexico will compete with Trinidad and Tobago on Jul. 20, Haiti on Jul. 22 and Nicaragua on Jul 24.

The Mexico women's soccer team beat Colombia 2-0 in the final of the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games in Veracruz, so the goal in this season is to defend the title, according to coach Medina.
