Guatemala, Apr 15 (efe-epa).- 96 percent of voters in Guatemala on Sunday said yes to a referendum on how to resolve the territorial dispute with neighboring Belize.

7.5 million Guatemalan voters were called to decide whether or not to bring the dispute before the International Court of Justice with a view towards defining the frontier between the two nations.

An early exit poll after the polling stations closed on Sunday evening showed 96.07 voted "yes", with 54 percent of ballots counted.

Voter turnout, however, was a disappointing 13.67.

The disputed dates back 200 years when Belize and Guatemala were British and Spanish colonies, respectively.
