Pearl Jam kicks off 2018 tour with 3-hour concert in Chile

    Santiago de Chile, Mar 13 (efe-epa).- American rock band Pearl Jam Tuesday kickstarted their 2018 tour with a concert in Chile that lasted over three hours, in what was their sixth performance in the country.

    The band dazzled more than 16,000 fans who had come to the Movistar Arena in Santiago de Chile, belting out a handful of their classics.

    Lead vocalist Eddie Vedder chose to speak a few words in Spanish to express the band's love for Chile, and promised to regale the crowd with songs that were that were left out in their last few performances.

    The group was celebrating the birthday of their bassist Jeff Ament, and distributed pieces of cake to the audience.

    Pearl Jam is set to play in Santiago de Chile once again Friday, as part of Lollapalooza festival and will continue their tour in Argentina and Brazil before heading to Europe.
