Lima, Jul 17 (efe-epa).- Peruvian National Police officers seized 12,526 marijuana plants in an operation last week in Huarmey province, located 276 kilometers (171 miles) north of Lima, officials said Monday.

Some of the plants were two meters (6.5 feet) high and were found in Molino Pampa, a town in Ancash region, officials said in a statement.

National Police drug enforcement agents and officers from Huarmey burned the plants seized during the operation.

No arrests were made in the raid and investigators continue looking for the individuals responsible for the illegal plantation, officials said.
