Paris, Nov 19 (EFE) .- The Grand Mosque of Paris announced on Thursday that it has decided to cancel a memorial ceremony planned for Friday to remember the victims of the Paris attacks due to security reasons.
Mosque officials said in a statement on Thursday "After discussion with the authorities of the prefecture of Paris, it appears that the security conditions necessary for the holding of a public gathering are not met."
This religious institution on Tuesday called on all Muslim citizens and their friends to express their solidarity with Paris, their diversity and "the values of the Republic."
An antiterrorism rally was planned to take place on Friday in the presence of the Imam of the Grand Mosque of Paris, Dalil Boubakeur, as well as the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo.
The Prefecture of Paris has temporarily banned rallies in public places in the city, a measure that has been extended until next Sunday.
